Joe's Latest Project

I love having a husband who is so handy around the house! With the warmer weather, Joe has already been busy landscaping the yard and it looks great! It's also fun to have a man who is so good at seeing the diamond in the rough! Our neighborhood had its annual garage sale a couple weeks ago and we found some great deals! We found an old cedar chest at one of the sales and Joe pointed out its potential. Although it was a little rough around the edges, Joe said that he could sand it and stain it to match our bedroom furniture. I was thinking, "Wow! Wouldn't it be great to have some more storage for linens?" We debated about it for a little while and ended up going back later in the afternoon. Joe negotiated a good deal and got to work on his latest project.












Here is the chest after we purchased it. It had previously been painted and then stripped, but there was still some paint on it and it needed a good sanding.















Here is the cedar chest in our room. Joe removed the rest of the paint and sanded it nice and smooth. Then he used a dark mahogany stain and some sort of clear overcoat on it. I think it looks really nice! The wood has such a beautiful grain to it!

Plenty of room for storing sheets and blankets! It looks great!
