On one of the overcast, slightly rainy days, we ventured down the island to the Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores. We decided it would be the perfect way to spend the morning. We had gone there on our last trip to EI, and although it is not a huge aquarium, it is a very nice one. We were able to use our reciprocal benefits from our membership to the Boonshoft Museum to get into the Aquarium for free!! That made it even better!!
Loved this great big frog at the entrance to the aquarium! Joe and Chloe liked it. Caleb wasn't sure what to think of the enormous frog!

The river otters were a lot of fun to watch! We found out that they do not actually know how to swim when they are born. They have to learn how to swim, just like we do! There were a couple of river otters and they put on a great show for us!

The aquarium is very hands-on and there were several touch pools around the aquarium. I think this is some kind of crab. Chloe was very brave touching a couple of the animals. She even touched a sting ray, something that no one else wanted to do!!

We had a great time at the aquarium and I'm sure we'll visit again on our next trip to Emerald Isle!
