We arrived in Emerald Isle mid-afternoon on Sunday. After a quick trip to the grocery store to stock up on the food we couldn't bring from home, like eggs, milk, and meat, we checked into our nice condo. We got settled in, and then met up with my parents and sister for dinner.
We were on the coast, so we knew we wanted seafood. We knew just where to go - Captain Charley's in Swansboro!! This is one of our favorite restaurants in the area and we knew we would get good food there!! We were not disappointed and enjoyed our first taste of fresh seafood! Yum! And since it was not prime tourist season, we walked right in without a wait!
There is a large statue of Captain Charlie in the entryway to the restaurant. Every time we come, we stop and get a picture taken with it! The first picture was of just Joe and I. The second one was Joe, Chloe, and I. This time it was Joe, Chloe, Caleb, and I. Not sure if we'll make it back this summer or not. If we wait to go back until next summer, there will be five of us in the picture!!
After an enjoyable dinner, we walked around the sound. Joe pretended like he was going to drop me in the water in this picture!! The water was actually a lot further away than it looks in this picture!
Even though it was dark when we returned back to the condo, the kids (as well as us adults!) were itching to get down to the beach! So we walked down to the beach and ran around for a little bit. Caleb was initially a little unsure as his tiny feet slid into the sand. It didn't take long, though, before he was running around as much as Chloe!
So much fun!!
