We were able to take a fun vacation to Emerald Isle, NC, in late September. Joe was out of town all week on a work trip and he got home around eleven o'clock in the morning. I had packed up the van on Thursday, so we pulled out for our vacation adventure around an hour after Joe got home. We prefer to leave early in the morning, but we were eager to get on the road.
Joe's brother Chris and his wonderful wife Leighanna live in the Raleigh Durham area of North Carolina, which just happens to be on the route we take to the coast. One of the reasons we were so eager to leave was because we were going to spend a couple of days with them at their house. We arrived at their house late Friday night, ready to fall into bed. However, the kids were wired after falling asleep in the car, and were super excited to see their Aunt and Uncle, so we stayed up and visited for a while.
I was able to get in a nice run the following morning and arrived back to a delicious breakfast blueberry pancakes, bacon, and eggs! They had remembered how much the kids like blueberry pancakes! After a relaxing morning, Chris and Leighanna treated us to a fun afternoon at Marbles Children's Museum http://www.marbleskidsmuseum.org/. It was a fantastic museum and we all had a great time!
One of the first things we saw was a large saltwater aquarium. Caleb loves fish so he ran right up to it!

This was a fun wooden ship! It was really cool! We all had a great time crawling around it. It was definitely kid-sized and was so fun!

There was also a cool submarine in the same area. There were lots of fun scientific type activities for the kids to try in it. Chloe had a good time with Uncle Chris in the sub.

There was a room set up to look like the inside of the ocean, complete with fish and turtles. Chloe was bouncing on some "bubbles" in the "ocean."
Another section of the museum was set up like a little town. Here Chloe goes for a drive in a little roadster.

Another section of the museum was set up with different businesses. The kids could "work" at these different businesses. Chloe's favorite was the pet care area. Here she is walking a dog around path.

Those are real tools. I was glad Joe was able to help Chloe with sawing, drilling, and hammering.

We had a fantastic time! The Marbles Museum will definitely be on our schedule for our next visit!
